Continuing a Halloween tradition, Greenlake Kids Dentistry works with community kids to give troops a sweet surprise.
Continuing the tradition this Halloween, Dr. Troy Hull and the Greenlake Kids Dentistry team are giving Seattle-area kids a chance to make a difference in a service member’s life by participating in Operation Gratitude’s annual Halloween Candy Buy Back program.
“Last year was our first attempt at buying back Halloween candy and the response was overwhelming – we were able to give 150 pounds of candy to Operation Gratitude. This year, we are looking to double that number. Please help us reach our goal this year of 300 pounds of Halloween candy!” says Dr. Troy Hull. “To see the generosity from the kids in our community inspired us last year. It’s amazing to see families pull together and donate candy for a great cause. Kids were genuinely excited to part with their candy knowing it would bring a smile to a serviceperson’s face.”
Greenlake Kids Dentistry is offering $1 per pound of candy (kids 12 and under, accompanied by an adult, up to 10 lbs. per person) and will put the extra Halloween candy to good use by sending it to US troops overseas through Operation Gratitude (www.operationgratitude.org) . For troop safety, Operation Gratitude works from the Army National Guard armory in Van Nuys, California to assemble the packages. Once completed, they are sent to service members overseas.
Candy, letters and good wishes will be collected at Greenlake Kids Dentistry the Monday after Halloween, November 1st from 3pm – 6pm. The candy must be unopened. All candy and letters collected will be packaged by the Greenlake Kids Dentistry team and donated to troops in harm’s way via Operation Gratitude. If you cannot attend the event, the office will accept candy donations the entire first week of November.
