Dr. Hull is a Board-certified pediatric dentist. A native of Colorado, Dr. Hull moved to Seattle in 1999 after receiving a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1998 and completing a post-graduate one-year hospital dentistry residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. After working as a general dentist in the community clinic system of Seattle for 6 years and teaching part-time at the University of Washington, he returned to school and completed a three-year specialty training program in pediatric dentistry and a Master of Public Health degree in 2008 at UW. This specialty program provided training in all aspects of a child’s oral health including behavioral and physical growth and development, cavity prevention, treatment of all oral health conditions common in childhood, advanced behavior management and anesthesia, dental trauma, and care of children with special health care needs. He became a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD) in 2010. Board certification is not a requirement to be a pediatric dentist, but is a voluntary pursuit of industry-leading excellence. Candidates are tested based on standards of excellence that lead to high quality oral health care for infants, children, adolescents, and patients with special health care needs. Certification by the ABPD provides assurance to the public that a pediatric dentist has successfully completed accredited training and a voluntary 2-part examination process designed to continually validate the knowledge, skills, and experience requisite to the delivery of quality patient care. In order to uphold certification, Diplomates are required to complete annual training and education not required simply to practice pediatric dentistry.
